The Serbian Community Centre of Western Australia is a cornerstone of our community, born from the shared experiences and aspirations of Serbian migrants who found themselves on the other side of the world.
Established in 1980 as "Zavicaj" (Homeland), our association was a beacon of hope for those navigating the challenges of life in a new country. Today, we stand on the shoulders of our founding members, their wisdom and dedication guiding us forward.
After years of planning and fundraising, entirely driven by the tireless efforts of volunteers, our community centre was built as a symbol of unity and perseverance. A time capsule, buried within its foundation, encapsulates the dreams and hopes of those early pioneers.
Our centre is more than just a building; it's a vibrant hub of Serbian culture, sports, and community spirit. We've hosted countless events, from local sporting competitions to large-scale cultural celebrations. Our doors are open not only to the Serbian community but to people from all walks of life, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and harmony.
We are proud of our rich heritage and strive to pass it on to future generations. Our young people are encouraged to embrace their Serbian roots while thriving in Australian society. The SCCWA is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about sharing Serbian culture with the wider community. We welcome people of all backgrounds and ages to join us and learn more about Serbia.
We offer a variety of activities and events throughout the year, including:
